Our Process: How We Create Human‑Crafted Tributes
Thoughtfully shaping your memories into words — with care, clarity, and respect.
Every tribute we create follows a thoughtful, step-by-step process — not because it needs to be complicated, but because care, judgement, and time matter when words are personal.
From the moment you share your memories, real people are involved at each stage — reading carefully, considering tone and meaning, shaping structure, and refining the words so they feel right for you and the moment they’ll be shared.
Whether you need a first draft to help you begin, expert feedback on something you’ve already written, or a fully written tribute, the level of attention remains the same:
Human review, thoughtful shaping, and experienced judgement — not a one-click output.
📜 Our Full Writing Process
For fully written tributes, obituaries, elegy poems, condolence poems, and Rest in Peace messages
When you choose a fully written tribute, you’re not handing your memories to a system — you’re working with real people through a careful, collaborative process designed to honour someone properly.
Below is how we shape a tribute from your memories through to the final version.
1. We receive your memories (You)
You share your stories, notes, and any supporting material using our secure forms. These don’t need to be polished — simple thoughts, moments, or memories are enough to give us a true sense of the person you’re honouring.
2. Initial review (DBS)
A member of the DBS team reads everything carefully, looking for themes, tone, and what feels most important to you.
If anything needs clarification or deeper context, we reach out personally to ensure we understand your wishes fully before writing begins.
3. Draft creation (DBS)
Using secure writing tools to support organisation and flow, we begin shaping a first full draft — guided by judgement, not automation.
This stage focuses on structure, voice, and emotional balance, ensuring the tribute feels natural, sincere, and appropriate for the moment it will be shared.
4. Expert review & reshaping (DBS)
The draft is reviewed and refined by experienced writers, reshaping phrasing, transitions, and emphasis so the tribute feels personal, cohesive, and respectful of the life it honours.
5. Client review (You)
You receive the draft and take time to read it in your own space. You can highlight anything that feels off, incomplete, or in need of adjustment — your response directly guides the next step.
6. Adjustments & refinements (DBS)
We thoughtfully integrate your feedback, making careful refinements to ensure the tribute reflects your intentions.
This review-and-refine stage can be repeated up to two rounds, so you feel comfortable, confident, and at peace with the final version.
7. Final polish & delivery (DBS)
Before delivery, we complete a final human review for flow, tone, accuracy, and formatting.
Your tribute is then delivered ready to use, with optional guidance for reading or sharing if helpful.
Why this matters
This multi-step approach ensures your tribute isn’t rushed, generic, or automated — but carefully shaped with time, judgement, and respect.

How Technology Supports Our Processes
We use secure, modern writing tools to support the drafting process — helping organise ideas, explore phrasing, and work efficiently, much like a skilled assistant would.
Every tribute is human-led.
Real people guide the process from start to finish — reviewing drafts carefully, shaping tone and structure, refining language, and making thoughtful decisions at every stage.
Drafts are often reviewed and reshaped multiple times, until the words feel right — personal, balanced, and true to what you want to express.
Technology supports our work — much like a qualified assistant supporting a lead writer — allowing us to spend more time on judgement, refinement, and care where it matters most.
Human judgement, care, and responsibility shape the final tribute.
If you’d like more detail about how we use technology, you can read more in our FAQ.
