Our Process: From Memories to Tribute
Helping bring your memories together — with care, clarity, and human support at every step.
Every tribute we help shape begins with memories, stories, and reflections. Bringing them together takes more than simply arranging words — it requires care, judgement, and time when something so personal matters.
From the moment you share your memories, real people are involved at every stage — reading carefully, considering meaning and tone, identifying important themes, shaping structure, and refining wording so everything feels clear, natural, and true to the person being remembered.
Whether you need a first draft to help you begin, thoughtful feedback on something you’ve already written, or a fully written tribute, the level of attention remains the same:
Human review, thoughtful shaping, and experienced judgement — never a one-click output.
📝 Our Tribute Draft Service
If you need a clear place to begin — or you’ve already started but feel unsure how to continue — our Tribute Draft service provides a thoughtfully shaped first draft, giving you structure, reassurance, and space to continue in your own way.
It follows a lighter version of our full process, with the same human care throughout.
1. You share your memories (You)
You share a few stories, notes, or key details using our secure forms — or anything you’ve already written so far. These don’t need to be polished — simple memories, refections, or rough notes are enough to get started.
2. Thoughtful initial review (DBS)
A member of the DBS team carefully reads what you’ve shared, noting tone, themes, and what matters most.
If anything needs clarification, we reach out personally before shaping begins.
3. Draft shaping (DBS)
Using secure writing tools to support structure and flow, we shape a clear first draft — guided by human judgement, not automation.
The focus here is on creating something that feels natural, sincere, and easy for you to build on.
4. Expert review & refinement (DBS)
The draft is carefully refined to ensure it feels coherent, balanced, and true to your voice.
5. Your draft, ready to personalise (You)
You receive your draft ready to adapt, expand, or read as you wish — along with reflection prompts, personalisation tips, and practical speaking guidance to support your next steps.
📜 Our Full Writing Process
For fully written tributes, obituaries, elegy poems, condolence poems, and Rest in Peace messages
When you choose a fully written tribute, you’re not handing your memories to a system — you’re working with real people, through a careful, collaborative process designed to honour someone properly.
Below is how we help bring your memories together into a tribute you feel ready to share.
1. You share your memories (You)
You share your stories, notes, and any supporting material using our secure forms. These don’t need to be polished — simple memories, stories, reflections, thoughts, or moments are enough to help us understand the person you’re honouring.
2. Thoughtful initial review (DBS)
A member of the DBS team reads everything carefully, looking for themes, tone, and what feels most important to you.
If anything needs clarification or deeper context, we reach out personally to ensure we fully understand your wishes before shaping begins.
3. Draft shaping (DBS)
Using secure writing tools to support organisation and flow, we begin shaping a first full draft — guided by human judgement, not automation.
This stage focuses on structure, voice, and emotional balance, ensuring the tribute feels natural, sincere, and appropriate for the moment it will be shared.
4. Expert review & refinement (DBS)
The draft is reviewed and carefully refined, improving phrasing, transitions, and emphasis so the tribute feels personal, cohesive, and respectful of the life it honours.
5. Your review (You)
You receive the draft and take time to read it at your own pace. You can highlight anything that feels off, incomplete, or in need of adjustment — your response directly guides the next step.
6. Adjustments & refinements (DBS)
We thoughtfully integrate your feedback, making careful refinements so the tribute reflects your intentions.
This review-and-refine stage can be repeated up to two rounds, so you feel comfortable, confident, and at ease with the final version.
7. Final polish & delivery (DBS)
Before delivery, we complete a final human review for flow, tone, accuracy, and formatting.
Your tribute is then delivered ready to use, with optional guidance for reading or sharing if helpful.
Why this matters
This multi-step approach helps ensure your memories are not reduced to a generic or automated output. Instead, they are carefully reviewed, thoughtfully organised, and shaped with time, judgement, and respect — helping create a tribute that feels personal, natural, and true to the person being remembered.
How Technology Supports Our Process
We use secure, modern writing tools to support parts of the drafting process — helping organise ideas, explore phrasing, and work efficiently, much like a skilled assistant would.
Every tribute remains human-led.
From the moment memories are received, real people guide the process — reviewing content carefully, identifying themes, shaping structure, refining language, and making thoughtful decisions at every stage.
Drafts are often reviewed and refined multiple times until they feel personal, balanced, and true to what you want to express.
Technology supports our work — it never replaces it.
By assisting with organisation and efficiency, technology allows us to spend more time where it matters most: understanding memories, applying judgement, refining details, and providing thoughtful support.
The final tribute is always shaped through human review, care, and responsibility.
If you’d like more detail about how we use technology, you can read more in our FAQ.
