Frequently Asked Questions
Helpful answers about our services, support, and how we help bring memories together.
Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions page.
When someone passes away, it’s common to have questions — whether you’re gathering memories, writing a tribute, exploring our services, or simply trying to work out where to begin.
Our role is to provide thoughtful, human-led support that helps bring clarity and structure to memories, stories, and reflections, making it easier to honour someone in a way that feels right to you.
Below, you’ll find answers to common questions about our services, process, Memory Workspaces, and the support we provide at each stage.
Is Dignity Bereavement Support a writing service or a support service?
Dignity Bereavement Support provides both writing services and remembrance support.
Some people simply want help gathering memories and organising thoughts using our free Memory Workspaces. Others choose a Tribute Guidance Call, a Tribute Draft, or a Full Writing Service depending on the level of support they need.
Our role is not to take over, but to help bring clarity, structure, and confidence to a process that many people find emotionally difficult and overwhelming.
What are DBS Memory Workspaces?
DBS Memory Workspaces are free online spaces designed to help you gather memories, stories, reflections, and thoughts in one place.
They provide gentle prompts and structure, making it easier to organise your ideas before writing a tribute, funeral speech, eulogy, obituary, or other memorial content.
Are Memory Workspaces free to use?
Yes. All Memory Workspaces are free to use and do not require an account.
You can save your progress as a local PDF file and continue working through your memories at your own pace whenever you are ready.
Do I need to organise my thoughts before I begin?
Not at all. Many people arrive with scattered memories, unfinished notes, or simply a few thoughts they want to remember.
Our Memory Workspaces, Tribute Drafts, and guidance services are designed to help bring structure and clarity to ideas that may still feel unfinished — while ensuring the final tribute still feels personal and true to you.
What’s the difference between a Memory Workspace, Tribute Draft, and Full Writing Service?
A Memory Workspace helps you gather and organise memories yourself using guided prompts.
A Tribute Draft takes the memories you provide and shapes them into a structured first draft that you can personalise and build upon.
Our Full Writing Service provides a more comprehensive writing and refinement process, including up to two revision rounds, helping create a completed tribute, speech, obituary, or poem ready for use.
What happens during a Tribute Guidance Call?
A Tribute Guidance Call provides dedicated time to discuss memories, structure, tribute planning, speaker arrangements, readings, poems, or any challenges you are facing.
The call is designed to help reduce overwhelm, provide clarity, and give you a clear plan for moving forward.
Do you use AI to write tributes?
We use secure, modern writing tools to support parts of the drafting process, much like many professional writing environments today. However, every tribute remains human-led.
Real people review memories, identify themes, shape structure, refine wording, and make the decisions that influence the final tribute.
Technology supports our work — it never replaces human judgement, care, or responsibility.
How do you keep tributes personal?
Everything begins with the memories, stories, and reflections you share. We take time to understand not only what you have written, but also how you have written it — paying attention to tone, flow, emphasis, and the details that matter most to you.
By understanding both the memories themselves and the way you describe them, we can help create something that feels more natural to read aloud, more personal to deliver, and more reflective of your intentions.
Our goal is not simply to organise memories into a tribute, but to help create something that feels authentic, personal, and true to the person being remembered.
What information do I need to provide?
You do not need to prepare anything perfectly. Simple memories, stories, reflections, notes, photographs, or key details are often enough to get started.
Our prompts and guidance are designed not only to help organise memories, but often to uncover additional stories, moments, and reflections that may not have immediately come to mind.
How long does delivery take?
Most Tribute Drafts, Full Writing Services, and poem services are delivered within 24–48 hours.
If you have a particularly urgent deadline, please contact us and we will always do our best to help.
Can I request changes?
Yes. Our Full Writing Services include up to two rounds of revisions, allowing you to refine the tribute until it feels right.
Tribute Drafts are designed as a starting point for you to personalise further, and additional guidance is available if needed.
What if I need something urgently?
We understand that funeral and memorial arrangements often operate under tight timeframes.
If you have an urgent requirement, please contact us directly. We will always try to accommodate urgent requests wherever possible.
Can you help with non-religious ceremonies?
Yes. We support religious, non-religious, secular, humanist, and personalised ceremonies.
Every tribute is shaped around the individual being remembered and the type of service being planned.
